Emotional wellbeing
Postnatal depressionis far more common than anyone warns you it might be.
It doesn't always look like sadness. Sometimes it's numbness, or irritability, or the feeling of watching your own life from a small distance. Whatever it looks like for you, it is not a character flaw and it is not permanent.

Because sometimes, the most reassuring words we can hear are, “I've felt that too.”
Dr Kavina
Perhaps you're doing everything right and still don't feel the way you thought you would.
- 01Perhaps you feel flat where you expected to feel joy
- 02Maybe you're angrier or more anxious than you have ever been
- 03Perhaps you're crying and can't point to a reason
- 04Or maybe you're frightened to say any of this out loud in case someone takes it the wrong way
If things feel urgent, please reach out now
If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, please get help today rather than waiting for an appointment.
The Samaritans of Singapore run a 24-hour hotline on 1767, and a 24-hour CareText service on 9151 1767 via WhatsApp.
If you or your baby are in immediate danger, please go to your nearest A&E.
Having those thoughts does not mean you are a bad mother, and it does not mean anyone will take your baby away. It means you need support quickly, and support exists.
We honour where you are
Every mother's experience of this is different.
Some know exactly what's wrong and want help naming it.
Some have been told it's just tiredness for months.
Some feel guilty for struggling when the birth went well and the baby is healthy.
Some are functioning perfectly on the outside and not at all on the inside.
There is no “right” way to feel after having a baby.
There is no expectation that you should be grateful every minute.
Our role isn't to judge how you're coping.
It's to listen properly, help you understand what may be going on, and make sure you get the right support.
Understanding brings confidence
We believe that meaningful healthcare begins with education. During your consultation, we'll take the time to understand how you're really doing. Together, we'll explore:
What you've been feeling, in your own words and at your own pace
How this differs from the ordinary exhaustion of new motherhood
Whether anything physical may be contributing, including thyroid function and anaemia
How sleep, feeding and support at home are affecting things
What kinds of help exist, and what each one actually involves
What the next step looks like, and who would be best placed to take it with you
Your goals matter
Not every mother wants the same thing from this conversation.
Healthcare should be personalised, not prescribed.
At BloomHealth, we don't believe success looks the same for everyone.
For one woman, it might be finally saying it out loud to someone who won't flinch.
For another, it may be understanding whether what she's feeling has a name.
For someone else, it may be being connected to the right person for proper support.
Whatever your goals may be, we'll go at your pace, and nothing has to be decided in one visit.

You were never meant to navigate this alone
Health is deeply personal.
But it should never feel lonely.
As BloomHealth grows, our Bloom Circles will create opportunities for women walking similar journeys to learn together, support one another and realise they are not alone.
How BloomHealth can support you
Your consultation may include:
A private, unhurried conversation with no time pressure
A gentle assessment of your mood and how it's affecting daily life
Blood tests where a physical cause may be contributing
An explanation of what help is available in Singapore and how to access it
Referral to psychological or psychiatric support where that's the right step
A conversation with your partner or family present, if you'd find that easier
Follow-up, so this isn't a single appointment you're left to act on alone
Where our care ends, said plainly
Dr Kavina is a female GP, not a psychiatrist or a psychologist.
What a female GP can do is listen without rushing you, check whether anything physical is contributing, help you understand what you may be experiencing, and connect you with the right support.
Where you need specialist mental health care, we'll say so clearly and refer you rather than trying to hold something that needs more than we can offer.
Our hope is that you'll leave feeling heard, and knowing exactly what the next step is.
Consultation fees
| Initial Consultation | S$120 |
|---|---|
| Planned Follow-up Review | S$90 |
Laboratory tests and any further investigations are billed separately where they are needed. A planned follow-up review applies to a scheduled review of the same concern. If a new or unrelated concern comes up, or a fuller reassessment is needed, that visit is booked as a new initial consultation.
Our philosophy
At BloomHealth, we believe the best kind of healthcare empowers people to become better versions of themselves.
By honouring where you are today, helping you understand your health and supporting you with evidence-based care, our hope is that you'll leave every consultation feeling more informed, more confident and more empowered to make decisions that are right for you.
Because healthcare isn't just about treating symptoms.
It's about helping people navigate life's transitions with clarity, confidence and compassion.
