Breastfeeding

Breastfeedingis not always the natural, easy thing we were promised.

For some women it works from the first day. For plenty of others it's painful, uncertain, or quietly exhausting, and there is far less honest help available than there should be.

Because sometimes, the most reassuring words we can hear are, “I've felt that too.”

Dr Kavina

Perhaps it hurts, and you've been told it shouldn't, and that hasn't helped.

  • 01Perhaps you're worried you aren't making enough, and you can't tell for certain
  • 02Maybe you've been unwell and don't know what you can safely take
  • 03Perhaps you've been given four different answers by four different people
  • 04Or maybe you're wondering whether you're allowed to stop, and afraid to ask

We honour where you are

Every feeding journey is different.

Some women want help to keep going.

Some want help to stop without feeling they've failed.

Some are combination feeding and tired of being asked to justify it.

Some simply want to know whether what they're feeling is normal.

There is no “right” way to feed your baby.

There is no expectation that you should have found this easy.

Our role isn't to tell you what you should be doing.

It's to understand what's actually happening, treat what can be treated, and support whatever you decide.

Understanding brings confidence

We believe that meaningful healthcare begins with education. During your consultation, we'll take the time to understand how feeding is going and what matters most to you. Together, we'll explore:

01

What's behind the pain, and whether something treatable is going on

02

The signs that matter when you're worried about supply

03

Which medications are safe while breastfeeding, and which need a different choice

04

How to recognise mastitis, thrush and other problems early

05

How feeding is affecting your sleep, your mood and your recovery

06

What stopping or combination feeding would actually involve, if that's what you want

Your goals matter

Not every mother wants the same outcome here.

Healthcare should be personalised, not prescribed.

At BloomHealth, we don't believe success looks the same for everyone.

For one woman, it might be feeding without pain for the first time in weeks.

For another, it may be finally being told that combination feeding is a real option.

For someone else, it may be stopping, with support rather than guilt.

Whatever your goals may be, we'll work with you towards them rather than towards somebody else's idea of what you should want.

You were never meant to navigate this alone

Health is deeply personal.

But it should never feel lonely.

As BloomHealth grows, our Bloom Circles will create opportunities for women walking similar journeys to learn together, support one another and realise they are not alone.

How BloomHealth can support you

Your consultation may include:

01

An unhurried conversation about how feeding is actually going

02

Assessment and treatment of pain, cracking, blocked ducts, mastitis or thrush

03

Clear guidance on medication safety while breastfeeding

04

A medical look at supply concerns, including thyroid and other contributing factors

05

A conversation about your mood and how you're coping

06

Practical support if you're weaning, combination feeding or stopping

07

Referral to a lactation consultant when hands-on feeding support is what you need

Where our care ends, said plainly

Dr Kavina is a female GP, not a lactation consultant.

Hands-on latch and positioning work is a lactation consultant's expertise, and we'll refer you to one when that's what will actually help.

Tongue-tie assessment and division are done elsewhere as well.

What a female GP adds is the medical side: treating pain and infection, checking medication safety, looking for a medical cause behind low supply, and paying attention to how you're doing, not only how the baby is.

Consultation fees

Initial ConsultationS$120
Planned Follow-up ReviewS$90

Medication, laboratory tests and any further investigations are billed separately where they are needed. A planned follow-up review applies to a scheduled review of the same concern. If a new or unrelated concern comes up, or a fuller reassessment is needed, that visit is booked as a new initial consultation.

Our philosophy

At BloomHealth, we believe the best kind of healthcare empowers people to become better versions of themselves.

By honouring where you are today, helping you understand your health and supporting you with evidence-based care, our hope is that you'll leave every consultation feeling more informed, more confident and more empowered to make decisions that are right for you.

Because healthcare isn't just about treating symptoms.

It's about helping people navigate life's transitions with clarity, confidence and compassion.
